DJing made easy with Spotify AI DJ

Updated: Sep 15, 2023

“Moonlight set thi, his favorite dish was also ready, but Jaise hi Spotify playlist On Kari, Ad Agayi” We all recall the 6 slices of pizza by heart whenever we think of Spotify and how these ads have always forced us to buy the premium version of the app.

Spotify is the first choice of its 456 million active users whenever it comes to groovin' on music and dancing on beats but, only 195 million have the premium ad-free music listening experience.

Music listening is a very personal experience for every person who is stuck in any situation in any phase of his life but, this personalization just got upgraded on Spotify. How? Well, do you remember requesting songs over DJ and enjoying the vibe the moment your song plays over the dance floor? Well, we all have done that. This experience of DJing and the very realistic commentaries is what you will be getting over your headphones, in your living rooms and gyms soon. Thanks to Spotify.

Spotify Debuts a New AI DJ, Right in Your Pocket

Spotify announced its newest launch of pocket DJ on February 22 on its newsroom wall and took over the internet promising the experience of personalized music listening. Spotify AI DJ is an AI integrated experience being provided to the users with a collaboration of Open AI technology.

Spotify acquired Sonantic - a London based AI startup that has built an AI engine to create very realistic-sounding, yet simulated, human voices from text. Well, this startup is the voice behind Val Kilmer’s voice in “Top Gun- Maverick'' released in May 2022. The startup stimulates realistic voices based on its algorithms of AI generation resulting in very humanistic-sounding voices. When the acquisition happened, Spotify well addressed the vision the brand has in the acquisition. For an instance, the brand expressed an opportunity in the dimension of voice search in the app during that time of the clock. The brand expressed how it might use the tech to use AI voices to bring more audio-based recommendations and descriptions to users who are not looking at their screens — for example, for those driving cars or listening while doing other activities and not able to look at a screen. The brand was very positive about the acquisition since the day they shook hands and today, they are finally up to something unexpected for the users- an expensive experience of DJing in their pockets.

Another party involved in this innovative step of experience is Xavier “X” Jernigan, Spotify’s own Head of Cultural Partnerships. The show was a unique and innovative way for users to start their day. The show was designed to be a personalized experience, with content tailored to each individual user based on their listening habits and preferences. The Get Up delivered a mix of news, music, and personalized content designed to help users start their day off right. X was a prominent part of the show and the show proved to be a great success because X’s personality and voice resonated with the listeners and resulted in a loyal following for the podcast he hosted too. His voice is the first model for the DJ that is being tested over the beta customers already. Spotify was already using data and technology to create personalized experiences for its users and with this new debut they have pushed the boundaries of traditional media and personalized music listening experiences.

This feature can prove to be a vibe for people hunting for their vibe amongst the thousands of songs over the app. This feature could allow users to create transitions, customize playlists , select or drop songs with ease. This can add up to a personal touch to every next song the user wishes to listen and experience. What next could be unfolded from this new launch and new blog published is that the core element of this experience is not just personal playlists like Spotify Wrapped but is accessibility. This at home experience of DJing requires a premium subscription , a music system and a mood to groove. This could make every party at home, a party at a club . Traditional DJing is an expensive and complex experience but, with Spotify this experience is no more expensive.

In conclusion, Spotify DJ is a creative and accessible way for users to experience music and create custom playlists and DJ sets. The feature has proven popular for personal use, events, and even business purposes, and has opened up the world of DJing to a wider audience. With its user-friendly interface and vast library of songs, Spotify DJ is a valuable tool for anyone looking to express themselves through music. So, this integration of Open AI technology and musical experience has elevated the personalization the brand has promised and continues to promise.

AI is integrating all possible domains we could think of and now it taps into our everyday lives with music listening. Do you think this feature is going to be another go-to stop for personalized experiences or would prove to be a mixed playlist of our liked song choices only?
